The Israeli military says it is "encouraging" people in the southern Gaza city of Rafah to move towards an expanded humanitarian zone. It comes ahead of an expected offensive on the city, where more than 1.4 million people are sheltering. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) says it is a "limited scope" operation and not a wide-scale evacuation of eastern Rafah which will affect 100,000 people. It adds that evacuees will be directed to tent cities in nearby Khan Younis and al-Mawasi, where aid would be available. Scientists have recreated the face of a 75,000-year-old Neanderthal woman - one of our closest evolutionary cousins. The 3D model is based on the flattened, shattered remains of a skull whose bones were so soft when excavated they had the consistency of "a well-dunked biscuit". The skull was found in Shanidar Cave in Iraqi Kurdistan, where the remains of 10 Neanderthal men, women and children were previously unearthed. UK's Foreign Secretary David Cameron has said that Ukraine has the right to use British weapons to attack targets inside Russia. Lord Cameron, who has met President Zelensky during a visit to the country’s capital, Kyiv, said the UK would donate military aid worth £3 billion a year "for as long as is necessary". He said British support would include precision-guided bombs and air defence missiles, which Ukraine could use as it saw fit. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously said that Russia is taking advantage of the slow delivery of Western weapons to go on the offensive. A Sumatran orangutan in Indonesia has self-medicated using a paste made from plants to heal a large wound on his cheek, said scientists. It is the first time a creature in the wild has been recorded treating an injury with a medicinal plant. After researchers saw Rakus applying the plant poultice to his face, the wound closed up and healed in a month. The behaviour could come from a common ancestor shared by humans and great apes, scientists have said.
