The University of the Western Cape says it's investigating a glitch that’s delayed payment of students on its work-study programme. More than 1,200 tutors, assistant lecturers and student assistants have not received their salaries since March. Some claim they haven’t been paid at all this academic year. The suspended Tembisa Hospital CEO Ashley Mthunzi has died. His death was confirmed by his wife on Tuesday. She said he died after a short illness. Mthunzi was placed under suspension in August 2022 after whistle-blower Babita Deokaran claimed there were irregularities in procurement at the hospital and the payment to suppliers.
