To the good people of Saint Lucia,
We understand that the recent shooting incidents in Castries have caused concern and anxiety among our citizens. We want to assure you that the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is taking all necessary steps to investigate these incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
The first incident on Jeremie Street about 10:30 am Saturday 16th August 2025 resulted in the death of Jamie Williams age 27. Takil Hayil James of Pattersons Gap Castries age 26 would succumb later after further gun related violence on Micoud Street Castries this incident occurring about 12.30 pm. In both incidents sadly, two innocent by standers or passersby as the case may be were injured. One young man remains admitted at a medical facility in critical condition.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and the injured. We are working tirelessly to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and track down the perpetrators. Our technical and investigative teams are fully engaged, and we are confident in our ability to resolve these cases.
In light of these incidents, we want to reassure the public that we have the capacity and expertise to handle complex investigations. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, and we are dedicated to serving and protecting our community. In the Micoud Street incident, police actively engaged the shooters, and investigators have taken two persons into custody and have recovered the suspect vehicle.
The recent incidents demonstrate the audacity and brazenness of these rival factions, who, despite our sustained operational efforts to disrupt their activities, continue to execute their violent intentions with reckless abandon. It is alarming that they have escalated their actions, bringing violence into the heart of our city, and putting innocent lives at risk. Their brazen behavior is a stark reminder of the challenges we face in maintaining public safety, and we are redoubling our efforts to dismantle these gangs and restore peace to our communities.

Some have raised concerns about previous information released during our last press conference regarding interference in the investigation of earlier homicides. We want to assure the public that these incidents are isolated and do not reflect the overall professionalism and dedication of our force. We are taking steps to address these issues and ensure that our procedures are robust and effective.
We appeal to the public to remain calm and to continue to have trust in the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. We are working hard to keep our community safe, and we need your support and cooperation. We urge anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and assist us in our investigations.
We are committed to transparency and accountability, and we will provide regular updates on the progress of our investigations. We are confident that, together, we can overcome these challenges and continue to build a safer and more secure community for all.
To the members of these rival groups, we serve a clear warning: your actions will not be tolerated. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force will not relent in our pursuit of justice and public safety. We will continue to track you down, gather evidence, and bring you to justice. Your brazen attacks on innocent lives will not go unpunished. We urge you to cease your violent activities and those responsible to surrender to the police. Those who refuse will face the full weight of justice, and we will not hesitate to take decisive action to protect our communities. »
