AG: “Making Blanket Statement Like That Doesn’t Take Into Account The Facts And Circumstances”

Attorney General Ryan Pinder has pushed back against comments made by Bishop Laish Boyd during the 2026 Opening of the Legal Year, cautioning against what he said were broad generalizations about the justice system.
Speaking Wednesday outside Christ Church Cathedral, Pinder said, “Making a blanket statement like that doesn’t take into account the facts and circumstances.”
Earlier, Bishop Boyd used the Legal Year church service to question what he described as unequal treatment within the justice system, suggesting that sentencing outcomes can differ for individuals who commit the same offenses, based on socio-economic status.
