Tobago People’s Party (TPP) candidate Kern Alexis has unveiled an ambitious master plan to transform the Plymouth to Buccoo district into the « Cancun of Tobago ». Speaking on a political platform ahead of the January 12th elections, Alexis outlined a vision for a continuous boardwalk and bike path stretching from Plymouth all the way to Buccoo Junction.
Alexis detailed partnerships intended to create bike trails and ATV tours at the Courland Eco-tourist Park, alongside a culinary experience defined as « farm from the sea to your plate ». He emphasized that these developments, including heritage parks and turtle watching, are designed to make residents feel proud of their community while boosting the local economy.
Turning to the « Blue Economy, » Alexis promised the introduction of the « Capital of Paradise 2, » a mother boat designed to revolutionize the local fishing sector. Reflecting on his past work with the Business Development Unit, he noted that while previous discussions about a second vessel « never materialized, » the TPP is committed to execution.
The candidate explained that this new vessel will integrate with plans for the Starfish area, where the catch can be offloaded and processed immediately. He further revealed that conversations have already begun with Global TT to facilitate the export of smoked fish, creating a complete value chain from catch to international market.
