HADCO Experiences celebrated a significant milestone as they received Green Key Certification for two of their eco-lodges, the Asa Wright Nature Centre and the Mt Plaisir Estate Hotel.

« The Green Key Award represents the highest global standard for environmental responsibility in tourism, with more than 8,000 certified establishments across 60 countries. This is a big deal, ladies and gentlemen. »

Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism Satyakama Maharaj congratulated HADCO Experiences, with the company obtaining Green Key Certification.

This represents not only a win for the company but also for Trinidad and Tobago.

« Your work strengthens our tourism industry, protects our natural assets, and demonstrates that Trinidad and Tobago is ready to lead in sustainable development. »

And as he presented the certificates to the company, Director of Green T&T Willard Harris said these citations are more than just symbols.

« They represent consistency or consistent action, strong environmental management, and a deep respect for the natural heritage that sustains our tourism industry. HADCO Experiences have demonstrated that sustainability is not an add-on. It is embedded in the core of its operations. »

The company received the internationally recognised Green Key certificates for the Asa Wright Nature Centre and the Mt Plaisir Estate Hotel.

Group co-CEO of HADCO, John Hadad, also recognised Asa Wright for being listed in the top 25 select boutique hotels in the Caribbean, according to international standards.

« While I was downstairs preparing my final notes, I got a notice, an email from the UK saying that the UK Times, the Times of London, just published an independent list of 25 select boutique hotels in the Caribbean. They’re top 25. And Asa Wright Nature Centre made it in the top 25. So, thank you. And I think there’s a sense of pride on the whole team’s part seeing that. »

The Green Key certificate is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation across the tourism industry.
