Brehnor Tobago Getting 'Too Nasty'
Faith Brehnor has issued a spirited call for a cultural shift across Tobago, declaring that the island has become « a little teeny weeny bit too nasty » regarding littering. Addressing supporters at a recent political meeting, Brehnor admonished the habit of throwing garbage out of vehicle windows, stressing that the island’s cleanliness is a critical pillar of its development thrust.
Brehnor argued that relying on street cleaners to pick up after citizens is not a sustainable or respectful culture to encourage. Instead, she envisioned a Tobago where tourists can walk anywhere and regard it as the « cleanest place they have been to. » She emphasized that maintaining the island’s beauty requires personal responsibility from every citizen, not just government intervention.
Shifting focus to infrastructure and local livelihoods, Brehnor announced plans to assist the fishermen of Belle Garden. She revealed that discussions have already commenced with the Secretary for Food Security to construct a « slipway »—a ramp facilitating the easy hauling of boats from the sea to the shore. She described the project as a cost-effective solution that would significantly improve the daily lives of local fishermen.
However, Brehnor linked these developments directly to the upcoming election. She asserted that while the slipway is a simple and necessary project, its realization depends on the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) securing victory at the polls on January 12. She urged the electorate to support the party to ensure these community-level improvements can be executed.
