Cabinet Approves Major Changes To Traffic Penalty System

Cabinet has approved amendments to the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act to introduce mandatory fixed penalty warnings for specific traffic violations.
Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Eli Zakour at Thursday’s Post Cabinet Media Briefing said the legislative changes will be brought to the Parliament soon.
He listed the 18 offences, the warnings vary between three days and seven days. Once addressed motorists must present their vehicles for inspection to verify the defects were corrected.
