Carnbee Mt Pleasant Cruise To 5-1 Victory Over Goal City
A much-needed game for Carnbee Mt Pleasant and Goal City, two teams who are yet to put points on the table in the Tobago FA Premier Division. Come Friday night, one team broke its duck and left Bacolet smiling.
Two games and two defeats. That’s how both Carnbee Mt Pleasant and Goal City started the 2026-2027 TFA Premier Division campaign. So, both ball clubs saw their encounter at the Dwight Yorke Stadium as an opportunity to kick-start the season in earnest.
And it would be Goal City who got the opener, in spectacular style. Akini Ferguson completed an instant counter-attack with a perfect lob from about 45 metres. It was 1-0 in the 11th minute of play. That was just their third goal of the season.
Carnbee Mt Pleasant wasted little time in responding, levelling the scores three minutes later when a quick combination play freed Selwyn Campbell, who fired past the keeper. That was just their second goal of the season. It was 1-1 as they went to the break.
Carnbee then went ahead in the 57th minute. The keeper’s punt landed in the middle of the field with one Goal City midfielder present. Nave Roach then slipped one through to Keelon Clement, who rounded the keeper to score in an open net. 2-1.
A shot at redemption presented itself a minute later with a penalty call and a booking after a rash tackle.
But no. Keeper Jonathan Thomas guessed right and dived left to make the save.
In the 66th minute of play, Malique Alleyne casually brought up the ball on the left flank before releasing it. He received the return pass before placing his effort over the keeper’s head and into the back of the net. 3-1 to Carnbee Mt Pleasant.
Make it 4-1 in the 74th minute when Roderick Marcelle tapped in from close range after the ball was pulled back to him.
Darrion Moses then helped seal a 5-1 result in stoppage time with yet another close-range strike.
Carnbee Mt Pleasant picked up their first points of the Premier Division, while Goal City left Bacolet with their third defeat in as many matches, leaving them dead last on the table.
