Kyle James Hat-Trick Completes Stunning Leeds United Comeback
Ball Blasters Youth Academy were brought back down to earth on Friday night by Leeds United in the Tobago FA Premier Division. An 11-minute hat-trick by Kyle James sealed a comeback win in Bacolet.
After the hammering of Goal City on Sunday, Ball Blasters Youth Academy were sitting top of the TFA Premier Division with two wins out of two, while their opponents, Leeds United, had a win and a loss to their name.
This contest appeared to be heading to the half goalless at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, but then a penalty was awarded to Ball Blasters for a late tackle.
And they made it count when Teejay Cadiz picked his corner. That’s goal number 6 for the league’s leading scorer, who netted 5 against Goal City. BBYA took a 1-0 lead to the break.
A delightful through-ball allowed Jabarie McMillan to race free to slot past the advancing keeper for a 2-0 lead in the 58th minute. Newly promoted Blasters showing that they are the real deal.
But a lapse in defence allowed Keon Butcher time and space to rocket his effort past the keeper, the bounce helping his effort. Leeds now trailed 2-1 in the 74th minute, with plenty of time still to play.
The side from Whim know Premier Division football and went in search of that equalizer, which led to a penalty call in their favour after a suspect challenge. And then came the most controversial part of the game.
Butcher’s attempt was initially saved by Kehdany Alleyne, but the referee’s assistant felt the keeper had moved too early, which meant a retake of the penalty.
Then Kyle James stepped up and slotted home for the equalizer. 2 all… Leeds equalised in the 80th minute.
And then the go-ahead goal when James found the back of the net again in the 84th, from close range. Three unanswered goals from Leeds.
And the comeback was complete a minute into stoppage time when Kyle James scored with a header after another delightful cross by Karyque Joseph. A hat-trick in 11 minutes. Leeds United took the win 4-2 over Ball Blasters Youth Academy.
