The Ceremonial Opening of Parliament is a significant event in Jamaica’s governance landscape, symbolizing the start of a new legislative session. His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen will deliver the Throne Speech at a Joint Sitting of the Parliament. The Throne Speech will outline the Government’s legislative agenda for the upcoming parliamentary year. The proceedings will also feature the formal arrival of state officials, members of both Houses of Parliament, and other dignitaries, and will include the traditional inspection of the Guard of Honour. After the Ceremony, the House of Representatives will convene at 2:00 p.m. for the tabling of the 2026/2027 Estimates of Expenditure.
