Clarke Champions Sports Milestones and Rallies Lambeau Support Ahead of January 12 Polls

Speaking at a Tobago People’s Party (TPP) political meeting in Lambeau this past Saturday, Wayne « Wasp » Clarke addressed supporters, highlighting significant strides in local sports infrastructure while delivering a sharp critique of the political opposition ahead of the upcoming election.
Clarke, who holds oversight for sports, opened his address by sharing a major endorsement from the President of the World Kickboxing Association. Following a recent tour of the island’s facilities, the international dignitary reportedly described the local complex—implied to be the Shaw Park Complex—as « the best indoor facility in this part of the world, » a testament to the high standards being maintained under the current administration.
A central theme of Clarke’s speech was the efficient use of resources to benefit Tobago’s athletes. He recounted a discovery made upon taking office: a professional wooden sports floor, purchased for Tobago, had been left unused in a storeroom by previous administrators. Clarke described his immediate directive to have the flooring installed, insisting that the island’s youth should not be relegated to playing on concrete while premium equipment sat idle.
As a direct result of this intervention, Clarke announced that the Tobago Basketball Association successfully concluded its first-ever season played entirely indoors, a historic achievement for the local sporting fraternity.
Turning to the political landscape, Clarke utilized the festive season to draw a stark contrast between his party and the opposition. Referencing the « red » of the opposing party, he compared them to a « naughty » Santa Claus, suggesting they had been « bad to Tobago » and urging the electorate to « cast them away » when they head to the polls on January 12th.
