READING CULTURE [15TH JANUARY 2026] – Governor General emeritus and former educator Dame Pearlette Louisy has challenged the notion that Saint Lucians lack a reading culture, arguing that how people, especially young people, consume information has simply evolved. Speaking on the sidelines of the SLUDTERA Literary Arts Awards, she stressed that literacy remains essential in a digital and artificial intelligence–driven age, even as traditional reading habits continue to change.
