Former Chief Secretary and Political Leader of the PNM Tobago Council, Ancil Dennis, has leveled serious accusations against the current Tobago House of Assembly (THA) administration, claiming they have instilled a culture of fear and victimization within the public service ahead of the January 12, 2026 elections.

Speaking at a political meeting in Scarborough, Dennis challenged public servants to compare the « posture » of his past administration with the current leadership. He vehemently defended the PNM’s track record, asserting that during his tenure, workers were free to openly campaign for the opposition—even wearing rival political jerseys and verbally criticizing leadership—without facing termination or disciplinary action.

Dennis contrasted this with what he described as a current « climate of fear, » alleging that contract workers are now terrified to even « like » opposition content on social media. He claimed that administrators are actively monitoring staff, summoning them to issue warnings that « the secretary is watching you. » Dennis urged voters to reject this alleged intimidation and return to a governance style he characterized as decent and honest.
