In a high-energy street meeting last night, PNM candidate Kwesi Des Vignes launched a blistering attack on the current THA administration, declaring that the last four years have delivered « absolutely nothing » for the people of Tobago.

Speaking from the « trenches » in Mason Hall without a stage or podium, Des Vignes rallied supporters for what he termed a « Red Crusade. » He urged Tobagonians to reject the « sweet lies » of the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) and return to the PNM at the polls on January 12th.

Key Highlights:

🔴 Critique of « Ten On, Ten Off »: Des Vignes heavily criticized current employment practices, arguing that young people deserve sustainable careers rather than the « ten on, ten off » rotation. He claimed that under the previous PNM administration, over 600 employees were made permanent, contrasting this with what he described as a lack of opportunity today.

🔴 Track Record vs. « Empty Box »: Defending the PNM’s legacy, Des Vignes pointed to local achievements such as the construction of the Mason Hall Secondary School and infrastructure works in Sandy River, Rose Hill, and Adelphi. He accused the current administration of failing to deliver new housing or meaningful projects despite billion-dollar budgets, comparing their tenure to opening a vote box and finding « nothing inside. »

🔴 Concerns on Crime: Addressing safety in the community, Des Vignes lamented that residents in Mason Hall and Sandy River now live in fear, requiring burglar proofing and security systems in villages where doors were once left unlocked. He cited recent violence as evidence that the island needs to be « delivered from wicked hands. »

🔴 A Call to Unite: Rebutting divisive rhetoric, Des Vignes emphasized that « Tobago is for all ah we, » stating that the PNM delivers for every citizen regardless of their political color. « We are the same yesterday, we are the same today, and we will be the same forever, » he declared.

Des Vignes closed by challenging the crowd to « launch the fight back » and secure a victory for the party next month.
