A potential breakthrough for the over 5,000 Estate Police officers who protect Trinidad and Tobago’s critical assets. After what they describe as years of neglect, the Estate Police Association held a meeting with the new Public Utilities Minister, Barry Padarath, on August 12.
The association tabled a list of long-standing frustrations, including unresolved wage negotiations, the non-payment of salaries and deductions, gratuity for retirees, and standards for bulletproof vests.
In a striking statement, the E-P-A said it has experienced more meaningful engagement in this new administration’s first 100 days than in the last ten years combined. Both the Ministry and the Association have now committed to sustained, solutions-driven dialogue, signalling a new approach to resolving issues that have plagued this essential branch of our national security for a decade.
