Touchstone Exploration has announced successful drilling results from the Carapal Ridge 3 well in Trinidad and Tobago and highlighted its significant hydrocarbon potential.

In a media statement on January 5, Touchstone Exploration Inc. reported the successful drilling results of the Carapal Ridge-3 well in Trinidad and Tobago, highlighting its significant hydrocarbon potential.

This is an onshore development well located in the Central Block near Princes Town.

According to the company’s Drilling Results and Well Details, the Carapal Ridge-3 (CR-3) well is the first to be drilled in 17 years in the Carapal Ridge pool.

The well encountered approximately 1,082 feet of net sand, including 1,000 feet of net Herrera sand.

Open-hole logging and drilling data confirm hydrocarbon-bearing sands throughout the Herrera interval, with a thick pay zone identified across multiple horizons.

Completion operations are in progress, with plans to tie the well into the Central Block natural gas processing facility by the first quarter of 2026.

The well’s results indicate a potential for three additional Herrera development wells on the Central Block and the establishment of a new gas-charged play in the Karamat formation.

Drilled to a total depth of 8,200 feet over 35 days, CR-3 was approximately 25% over budget due to challenges encountered in managing natural gas flows from the Karamat sands.

The well was designed to target both developed and unproduced Herrera sands, with initial production planned from the lower horizontal section.

The successful execution of CR-3 confirms the seismic model and the extent of the Herrera section, enhancing future drilling prospects.

Chief Executive Officer of Touchstone, Paul R. Baay, has emphasised the well’s significance for increasing natural gas sales and the potential for future development in the area.

Touchstone holds a 65% operating interest in the well.
