Experts and stakeholders committed to advancing disaster preparedness are now placing greater emphasis on strengthening key elements of the field for both the nation and the wider Caribbean region.
The Founder of the Disaster Preparedness Risk Management Conference 2026, Stacey-Ann Pi Osoria, who is also the Managing Director of PODS Emergency Management Consultancy & Solutions, notes with concern that too often action is pursued without adequate planning.
She says it is important to prepare and strategise well in advance of any disaster, especially as we have recently witnessed so many earth-shattering crises.
Ms. Pi Osoria warns that disaster response can be ineffective without proper mitigation measures. As such, she stresses that research, planning, and structured processes must be undertaken well in advance to reduce the impact of unexpected destruction.
