Farley Tobago is We Means Unity
Chief Secretary Farley Augustine delivered a stirring address in Speyside, redefining the « Tobago is We » mantra as a call for genuine unity and neighborly care. Speaking to a spirited crowd, Augustine emphasized that the slogan is not merely political rhetoric but a demand for Tobagonians to live as supportive neighbors, caring and sharing with one another regardless of political affiliation.
Augustine drew a sharp distinction between his administration’s governance and that of his predecessors. He accused the previous regime of practicing partisan politics where only party loyalists were supported. He recalled the sentiment of that era with the stark phrase, « If you ain’t red, you dead, » asserting that non-supporters were historically excluded from grants and government services.
In contrast, Augustine declared that the Tobago People’s Party is committed to equity. He assured the residents of Speyside and the wider island that his administration does not see color— »red, black, or blue »—when delivering service. The Chief Secretary reaffirmed that under his leadership, the government’s mandate is to care for every citizen, ensuring that the spirit of « Tobago is We » translates into tangible support for all.
