« This is what happens when a Government invests in culture. »
The words of Minister of Culture and Community Development, Michelle Benjamin, who says the Flava Food Village at the Queen’s Park Savannah has been a major success, attracting more than 150,000 patrons so far.
« Our biggest night was January 24th, where we recorded over 13,000 patrons. And yes, that was our largest single night. On the 23rd of January, the night before, we recorded 11,600 patrons. And of course, these numbers was given to us by the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service, who is hired not just to keep us safe in that space, but also to monitor the number of persons coming to these events. »
Minister Benjamin said since introducing the Flava Food Village, more sponsors and companies have been coming on board to participate.
« So much so that we have requests for persons to book venues, vendors seeking booths for 2027 Carnival, and that is an indication that there is an uptake with regards to the Carnival product and our culture. »
The Flava Village comes to an end on February 28th.
