SIGH OF RELIEF [11TH MARCH 2026] – The Government of Saint Lucia is moving to tackle the island’s growing traffic congestion with plans to secure a USD $20 million loan to facilitate upgrades to the Sir Julian R. Hunte Highway between the Choc Bridge and Marisule Junction. The proposed project forms part of the government’s broader strategy to improve the country’s road infrastructure and ease daily commuting challenges faced by motorists. With traffic conditions along the northern corridor worsening as of recent, particularly due to the steady rise in private vehicle ownership, officials say the planned expansion and improvement works are expected to help improve traffic flow and reduce travel time along one of the island’s busiest routes.
