As the island continues to experience unstable weather and heavy rainfall, the Government of Saint Lucia is reaffirming the importance of early preparation and policy foresight in protecting farmers and securing food supply.
Earlier this year, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre, Saint Lucia became the first country in the region to activate the Regional Economical Agri-Insurance Programme (REAP) — an initiative designed to cushion farmers from the financial shocks of climate-related weather events.
