Thirty children’s organisations in Trinidad and Tobago as well as in Jamaica will benefit from the Guardian Group’s charitable enterprise as the company distributed $780,000 in cheques on Monday.

This year marked the eighth edition of the Guardian Group’s Shine 5k and 10k Walk and Run event.

Group Head of Marketing and Communications, Ayesha Boucaud-Claxton, says the company is committed to children and young people.

« Since its inception in 2015, Shine has generated over TT$4 million in donations, and that’s quite a bit. These funds have supported more than 200 charities and have positively impacted the lives of over twenty thousand children across Trinidad and Tobago. »

Ms Boucaud-Claxton described the event as dedicated to giving the nation’s youth a chance to thrive and contribute to nation-building.

« Shine 2025 raised a whopping TT$780,000, which will be distributed to 30 charities dedicated to the nurturing, protecting and uplifting of children across Trinidad and Tobago. These funds will help strengthen programmes, expand services, and open new doors of opportunity for children who need it the most. »

Ms Boucaud-Claxton said the event is expanding its reach.

« This year also, our reach will extend beyond our shores of Trinidad and Tobago. A portion of the proceeds will support children in Jamaica, so look out for that, as communities continue to recover in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. »

The Autism Support Network, the Dyslexia Association of Trinidad and Tobago, and the Just Because Foundation are just a few of the children’s organisations benefiting from this year’s charity run.
