Training executives and managers to deliver high-quality insurance and financial services while fostering collaboration among industry leaders was the focus of Wednesday’s GAMA Day 2025.

The event, hosted by the General Agents and Managers Association (GAMA), took place at the Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain.

President and Chief Executive Officer of GAMA Global, Bonnie Godsman, said the organisation’s global impact is rooted in its commitment to upholding high standards of ethics, leadership, and professional excellence across the industry.

« You know we look at Trinidad and Tobago, right? The marketplace is small compared to something like India. The people aren’t less important. Making sure the economies are strong, making sure small businesses are strong, and quite frankly, most importantly, that families are protected. Financial health is one of the most undervalued elements of any culture regardless of where you live, and Trinidad and Tobago should definitely not be left out in that conversation, and quite frankly, you have a lot to offer. »

President of GAMA Trinidad and Tobago, Winston Williams, explained that insurance is not a religion and does not require belief; rather, it should be seen as a financial tool for mitigating risk.

« So many people are open to insuring their vehicles, insuring their homes, but the person that generates the income to sustain those things is the person. Why should we not insure the person to make sure that if they are not there, at least their family could still live in the same homes, in the same neighbourhoods, and go to the same schools? »

According to President of GAMA Caribbean, Amery Rauseo, GAMA symposiums benefit customers by enabling industry leaders to leverage collaborative advances in technology and training.

« How I see it, it starts with the leadership. If the person at the top has the right information to be able to filter that down, filter it straight down to the customer on the street, it means that we are in good hands. »

GAMA Global has over 100 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry, with offices in 32 countries, including Jamaica, The Bahamas, and Trinidad and Tobago.
