Janelle John-Bates To Be Replaced On PAAC Amid Witness Statement Allegations
Confirmation has come to hand that Opposition Senator Janelle John-Bates will be replaced as a member of the Public Accounts and Administration Committee (PAAC).
This comes after allegations that the Senator assisted former Minister of Health Terrance Deyalsingh in reviewing and editing his witness statement ahead of his appearance before the Committee.
The Committee is examining the State’s acquisition of pharmaceuticals as it relates to the current processes applicable to their importation and approval.
On 13 April, the scheduled Committee meeting was adjourned, with Chairman Jagdeo Singh making a brief statement apologising to the public and noting something « regrettable » had happened.
The next PAAC meeting will be held on April 27th.
