Orlando Kerr has fiercely rebutted insinuations of corruption made by former Senator Hislop regarding the Chief Secretary’s handling of a hotel asset. Speaking on a Tobago People’s Party (TPP) platform ahead of Monday’s election, Kerr addressed Hislop’s claim that handing the hotel to a state entity constituted malpractice.

Kerr clarified that the property was transferred to a « state company, » a standard operational procedure in Trinidad and Tobago, rather than to a private individual or personal acquaintance. He ridiculed the attempt to « paint some kind of corruption » on the transaction, emphasizing that the transfer was to a legitimate body corporate rather than « he old man living space side ».

Turning the tables, Kerr pointed to a recent meeting in Moriah where Secretary James highlighted contracts worth over $50 million awarded to just two individuals. « That is corruption, » Kerr asserted, contrasting those lucrative deals with the lawful administrative handover of the hotel.

Kerr urged the electorate to exercise « critical thinking » and question the motives behind the opposition’s narratives. He warned voters against « playing for slips » or taking chances on empty promises, describing the current TPP administration as « Tobago-centric » and committed to keeping its word.
