King Reveals New Year Honours List
The King’s New Year Honours list has been officially revealed, shining a spotlight on a diverse array of talent ranging from Hollywood stars to dedicated community volunteers across the United Kingdom.
Headlining the list is actor Idris Elba, who has been awarded a Knighthood for his impactful work with young people and efforts to tackle knife crime. Elba remarked that he receives the honor on behalf of the many youngsters who drive the work of his foundation. Joining him in the spotlight are the legendary ice skating duo Torvill and Dean, who have been awarded a Knighthood and Damehood respectively for their services to the sport and voluntary service.

Young campaigner Serena Weibe receives a BEM for her work against knife crime, noting that charity support saved her life. Carl Portman is recognized with an MBE for his unique service volunteering in prisons, using the game of chess to help inmates improve their thinking and behavior.
