« I will walk among you, not just speak for you. »
In a heartfelt and detailed presentation, Darren Henry has officially launched his campaign as the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) candidate for Bethel / New Grange.
Standing before his community, Henry—a public servant of over 26 years—defined his candidacy not by political ambition, but by a lifetime of service. « Leadership is not about titles; leadership is about service. It is about showing up, » Henry told the supportive crowd.
Big Plans for Sou-Sou Lands Henry unveiled a comprehensive development plan for the constituency, headlined by a major proposal to transform the Sou-Sou Land quarry into a « family-friendly theme park. » His vision includes eco-trails, rock climbing, an amphitheater, and an international mountain bike track, aiming to boost both community recreation and local tourism.
Additionally, he announced plans to reactivate the Sou-Sou Land Cooperative and officially name the community park in honor of veteran politician Sister Pamela Nicholson, paying tribute to those who paved the way.
Rooted in Community The candidate emphasized his deep roots in the area, sharing that he and his wife of 24 years, Dianne Baker-Henry, have raised their four children right in Riseland Trace. He pledged to tackle everyday issues like « dry taps » and support small businesses, promising a leadership style based on humility and accessibility.
« I am asking you to place your X by the anchor, » Henry urged, solidifying his symbol for the January 12th poll.
