Mason Hall Sec Gets Dual Track Upgrade
janvier 7, 2026 2:48 am
A transformative shift is coming to Mason Hall Secondary School, with plans to introduce a « dual track » curriculum by September 2026. This initiative aims to revitalize the school, which is currently underpopulated due to perceptions about educational quality. The proposed changes seek to address these concerns head-on by offering a more comprehensive and versatile educational experience.
The new curriculum acknowledges the demands of the modern global economy, emphasizing that academic prowess alone is not the only path to success. Students will have access to a suite of vocational skills alongside traditional subjects. This means a student excelling in sciences like physics or biology can also gain proficiency in practical trades such as barbering, tiling, auto mechanics, refrigeration, and air conditioning. The goal is to produce multi-faceted graduates equipped for diverse career paths.
This strategic overhaul is the result of a collaborative effort between the Division of Education and the area representative for Mason Hall/Moriah, Ian « Whitey » Pollard. A dedicated committee, led by the school’s principal, has worked to tailor this new curriculum specifically to the school’s needs and capacity. The initiative underscores a commitment to the philosophy that « no child is to be left behind, » ensuring that every student, regardless of their academic focus, leaves with a valuable and marketable skillset.
With the necessary groundwork already laid, this development promises to turn Mason Hall Secondary into a model of modern, inclusive education. It represents a significant step towards ensuring that the educational system in Tobago evolves to meet the practical realities of the 21st-century workforce.
