Minister of Culture and Community Development Michelle Benjamin has vowed to bring positive improvements to the future of the La Reine Rive, Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition.

She made this pledge during its 2025 finals, held on Sunday at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA).

Addressing attendees at the event, Minister Benjamin acknowledged that while the competition continues to be a vital showcase of local talent, there are areas that require improvement. She pledged to implement the necessary changes.

« I would have listened to the many complaints, and the complaints that came this year is that more is needed, and my pledge here tonight is to tell you that immediately after the curtains close, there will be an announcement where each county will be coming to you to hear what you experienced, take your recommendations, and to improve this product. »

According to the outgoing Ms. La Reine Rive, Rachel Questelles, this experience has deepened her understanding of what the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition truly represents.

« It is not merely a platform for young women but a movement to nurture talent, expression, and leadership. We must also remember our young men, who are equally brilliant and deserving of opportunities to showcase their gifts and celebrate their achievements. »

Ms. Questelles offered words of encouragement to all contestants, emphasising that the true value of the competition lies not in the final results, but in the journey, personal growth, and lessons learnt along the way. She expressed hope for the continued success and development of the competition.

« To the current and future queens, approach this competition not for the prize or recognition but for the love of country, culture, the arts, and self. Let your heart guide you and your efforts, for with passion, perseverance becomes manageable. »

In the end, representing St. Andrew/St. David with the Rangila Dance Company, Ms. Trisha Villafana emerged victorious, capturing the title of Ms. La Reine Rive for 2025.
