MINISTER CASIMIR PUSHES FOR GREATER RECOGNITION OF TEACHERS

EDU-K-SHINE [24TH APRIL 2026] – Education stakeholders are calling for teachers to be placed at the forefront of national recognition in Saint Lucia, emphasising their critical role in shaping every sector of society. The push gained momentum during the recent Appropriation Bill debate, where Education Minister Kenson Casimir highlighted the disparity in recognition between educators and other professions. In response, the government is moving to elevate the status of teachers, including plans to introduce a National Teachers’ Awards initiative later this year.
