Ministry Of Education Issues School Supplies And Book Grants On Phased Basis
The Ministry of Education announced today that disbursements for the School Supplies and Book Grant are being issued on a phased basis, with priority consideration given to vulnerable persons.
According to the Ministry’s media release, 5,248 payments have already been processed, with the remaining 14,752 payments scheduled for completion by September 5th, 2025.
The Grant prioritises applicants in four key categories: individuals receiving public assistance, unemployed persons, persons with disabilities, and low-income households.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC emphasided the government’s commitment to educational equity, stating that the initiative « reflects our government’s commitment to equity and educational opportunity for every child » and that the Ministry of Education « has worked tirelessly to ensure that this support reaches those who need it most. »
Recipients will receive email notifications confirming their payments, which are being transferred directly to bank accounts provided during the application process. The Ministry advises beneficiaries to monitor their email accounts regularly for payment confirmations.
For those receiving disbursements via cheque, collection will be available at Education District Offices nationwide between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. starting Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, specifically for persons who have received email confirmations.
