Minister of Health Dr. Lackram Bodoe has announced that the Government has added three rare neurological conditions to those covered under the Children’s Life Fund, allowing more children to access specialised treatment abroad.

Speaking at a UNC media briefing on Sunday, Dr. Bodoe reassured that the Government will do everything possible to improve and save the lives of the nation’s children.

Danielle John has the details.

Dr. Bodoe said Cabinet recently approved further amendments to the Children’s Life Fund Act to include three additional rare neurological conditions.

The Minister outlined that the other two conditions will also now be covered under the Children’s Life Fund.

He explained that treatment for these conditions is not available locally.

The Minister also highlighted the impact of the Children’s Life Fund, noting that hundreds of children have benefited since the programme was established in 2010 under the Government of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
