Morris $13 Billion Spent, Nothing to Show
3 hours ago
At a high-energy « Dance Ah Yard » political meeting in Charlotteville, Minority Leader Kelvon Morris launched a blistering attack on the current Tobago House of Assembly administration, demanding accountability for $13 billion spent over the last four years. With the January 12th elections just weeks away, Morris urged voters to reject what he termed « incompetence » and look at the reality of their communities.
Morris challenged the electorate to identify tangible results from the massive expenditure, pointing specifically to the deteriorating state of the island’s infrastructure. He described Tobago’s roads as « deplorable » and the « worst they have ever been, » imploring residents to ignore the « rum talk » and judge the administration by their lack of delivery. He warned that re-electing the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) would only serve to validate poor performance and continued neglect.
The Minority Leader also cautioned voters against last-minute election inducements. He accused the incumbent administration of trying to sway the electorate with « lavish giveaways »—listing ham, lamb, jam, bicycles, and cash—after being absent for four years. « They forsook you for four years, » Morris declared, urging Charlotteville residents to recognize their worth and not be bought cheaply in the final days of the campaign.
Rallying support for the People’s National Movement (PNM), Morris endorsed Maxon Roberts, the candidate for Parlatuvier/L’ Anse Fourmi/Speyside, as the right choice to bring serious representation to the district. He positioned the PNM, led by Ancil Dennis, as the only team with a visionary plan to secure Tobago’s resources and restore proper governance.
