Despite the less than ideal weather conditions for the better part of the morning period on Easter Monday, over 100 children from care homes across Trinidad took advantage of the cooler conditions at the Aranguez Sports Club for a day of games, food and fun experiences, courtesy of the Mr. Brown and Friends Easter Children’s Charity Event.

The vision for the event came to life in 2021, when retired entrepreneur Carlyle Brown and friends organised and executed the very first Easter Children’s Charity Event for 50 children at the Corbin Estate, specifically for children residing in children’s homes and those living with cerebral palsy.

Event Coordinator Marian Bradshaw-Allicock said the event has since grown, and in 2026, the team hosted over 100 children from eight homes.

« We have the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, we have Cadet Force, we have volunteers from TTT as well. In total we have about 135 children from the homes, from the different homes. Today we had horseback riding from the Trinidad and Tobago Mounted Branch. We had face painting, we had popcorn, cotton candy. We had Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, who came and did a display, showcasing the different equipment and tools and craft. »

Mrs. Bradshaw-Allicock said this event is a labour of love, ensuring that Mr. Brown’s vision of providing life-changing experiences for children living with cerebral palsy and those from underprivileged homes comes to life.

According to representatives from two children’s homes, this was definitely achieved.

Merle Holder of Lady of the Wayside – Halfway House for Children said, « I find it was very interesting, especially for the children, they were having fun, they’re still having fun, a little rain spoiling, but it was okay, the children played also in the rain. We had a big boy who loved to play football with the bigger boys. It’s very interesting, the children enjoy themselves. Actually, three of our children won first prize in the games. »

Michelle Lashley-Bisram of Care Helpers Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago told TTT News, « I noticed they are having a great time. They’re enjoying all the activities, especially the horseback riding, they had fun, and also the other games they were much involved in. So, it was really an enjoyable time for them. »

With another successful event in the record books, the team has assured that 2027 will be even greater.
