The Ministry of Defence has activated a national security response following the fatal shooting of Municipal Police Officer, Anuska Eversley earlier today.
The officer, attached to the San Fernando Municipal Police Station, was killed in the line of duty. Minister of Defence and Minister in the Ministry of Homeland Security, Wayne Sturge, has extended condolences to the officer’s family, colleagues, and the wider Municipal Police Service.
In response, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force has moved to an elevated operational posture, supporting the Police Service and other national security agencies. Intelligence assets have been deployed, with ongoing monitoring and contingency measures in place to address any immediate or emerging threats.
The Ministry says it is working closely with the Commissioner of Police and other security leaders to ensure a coordinated response, with all necessary resources being applied to secure the situation and advance the investigation.
Members of the public are being urged to remain calm, avoid speculation, and allow authorities to carry out their duties. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
