NIDCO Confirms MV Blue Wave Harmony To Replace Cabo Star

The MV Blue Wave Harmony, scheduled to arrive in Trinidad on January 18th will enhance the efficiency of the inter island transport system, with no scheduled dry-docking in 2026, allowing for uninterrupted operations throughout the year.
In a media release, the National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) said the vessel has four main engines that will permit improved operational reliability.
With an increased cargo capacity, it can accommodate approximately 125 freight units.
It will also see enhanced refrigerated cargo capability, heavier-duty loading ramps, enhanced vessel stability and seakeeping.
Passengers can also expect more facilities, and accessibility features inclusive of: 73 passenger cabins, each equipped with beds and bathrooms, a 142-seat self service restaurant, lounge, and entertainment area, and a passenger lift.
The vessel also has enhanced refrigerated cargo capability, with 31 fixed reefer sockets, supporting the transport of temperature-sensitive goods such as food and pharmaceuticals.
The vessel will also create job opportunities for local concessionaires and service providers.
In addition to that, it should see improved coordination between inter-island ferry service, as a result and improved coordination between NIDCO and The Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.
