Niemeyer Secures First Medal For T&T At Carifta Games

Trinidad and Tobago’s campaign at 53rd Carifta Games got going in earnest today at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. George’s Grenada and we have some results from the Morning session.
Trinidad and Tobago’s first medal at the 2026 Carifta Games in Grenada came in the Boys U17 Javelin Throw with Tannon Niemeyer finishing in third with 57.90 meters…Deshawn Smart of Grenada was first with a throw of 65.09.
The first competitors for Team TTO at the Games were Reyann Graham and La Queen Welch in the Girl’s Under 17 High Jump finals.
They finished at 5th and 6th respectively both clearing 1.6 meters. Destinee Cenac of St Lucia won the event with the best leap at 1.66 meters.
In the boy’s Under 17 100 meter dash Jafari Edwards finished 5th in a time of 11.62 seconds and Niyelle Alleyne was just behind in 11.71. Justin Shepherd of the Bahamas was first in 11.13.
In the Boy’s Decathlon Tyrique Vincent got his title defence off to a grand start with victory in the 100 Meters in a time of 11.86…while his team mate Kaleb Campbell took 3rd spot in 11 seconds flat. Vincent all topped the competitors in the Decathlon Long Jump with a leap of 7.36 meters. Campbell finished 4 with 6.70.
