Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles-Robinson is calling on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to leave First Citizens Bank (FCB) alone, stressing that the institution must be allowed to operate independently without political interference.
Beckles-Robinson argued that attempts to drag the bank into partisan debates could undermine public trust and confidence in one of the country’s leading financial institutions.
She further noted that FCB has played a critical role in maintaining financial stability and supporting economic development; therefore, it should not be used as a political football. Beckles-Robinson is urging that national interest be placed above party agendas.
