Piparo Mud Volcano Remains Active, Residents Urged To Stay Vigilant
janvier 7, 2026 8:27 pm
Residents of Piparo are being urged to continue being vigilant as the mud volcano in the area remains active.
According to an update from the UWI Mud Volcano Research Team, the system has not stabilised, with ongoing pressure fluctuations indicating that it remains highly pressurised.
The UWI team noted several new fractures, and existing fractures have opened, allowing pressure to escape intermittently. This will provide temporary pressure relief.
Residents are advised to stay alert and vigilant, refrain from approaching the main crater or fractured areas, report any new cracks, gas emissions , or ground movement, and follow the guidance from local authorities and emergency services.
The UWI Mud Volcano Research Team noted that they remain on site and will continue to actively monitor the Piparo Mud Volcano.
