PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar's Statement On Income Tax Exemption For Pension Payments
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC has announced that, under the upcoming Finance Bill 2026, pension payments from approved pension funds and deferred annuity plans will be exempt from income tax starting 1 January 2026.
The Prime Minister said this was a commitment made during the election campaign and was announced in the Budget. Now, it is being delivered through legislation.
