Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC is reminding senior public officers about the importance of their roles, calling on them to emulate the values outlined in the Quran.

As she participated in the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at the Office of the Prime Minister on Thursday, she urged senior public officials to continue their service to the nation.

« Each one here plays a vital role in the work of government much of it is done quietly but essential to serving the people of our nation. Just as Ramadan teaches discipline, consistency, and care for others, those same qualities are reflected in the service that you do. The Quran reminds us that whoever serves saves one life. It is as if you have served all of mankind. »

The Prime Minister also called on them to emulate the values in the Quran.

« In public service that is a powerful reminder that every action matters and that service carried out with integrity makes a real difference. As I close, I urge you to carry forward the spirit of Ramadan into your work with compassion, with integrity and renewed purpose. »

She noted that the cosmopolitan nature of Trinidad and Tobago is one of the country’s best qualities.

« Moments like this reflect the very best of T&T. A nation where our many faiths and traditions are not only acknowledged but embraced and shared. And so I want to commend the Office of the Prime Minister for continuing to celebrate each other’s observances as you set a meaningful example for the wider public. »

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
