Powergen are the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board’s 30-over champions after a commanding 59-run victory over Victoria United at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Sunday.
Winning the toss and choosing to field first was a decision Victoria United would come to regret. Jeremy Solozano anchored the Powergen innings with a brilliant 75 runs off just 63 deliveries, striking four fours and three sixes as Powergen posted 224/9 in their 30 overs.
Bowling for Victoria, Chadeon Raymond took 3/43.
In reply, Victoria United were never in the hunt. Uthman Muhammad was the pick of the bowlers, with 4/36 off five overs, including a maiden, as Victoria were bowled out for 165 in under 28 overs. Eton Bhal was their top-scorer with 40.
Victoria’s Chadeon Raymond took the Best Fielder award, and Powergen’s Jeremy Solozano was named Player of the Match.
At the presentation, TTCB President Azim Bassarath handed runners-up Victoria United SC their trophy and a cheque for TT$25,000 before presenting Powergen with the championship trophy and TT$45,000.
