Prime Minister's Statement On The Shield of the Americas Summit
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, issued a strong statement in Parliament today, expressing her full support for the United States in its efforts to dismantle drug cartels and transnational crime syndicates across the Western Hemisphere.
Speaking about her attendance at the Shield of the Americas Summit in Doral, Florida on March 7th, she said crime cannot be solved alone, and Trinidad and Tobago stands to benefit significantly from joining the Americas Counter-Cartel Coalition, which commits participating nations to coordinate military and law enforcement efforts to combat transnational criminal organisations, particularly drug cartels.
The Prime Minister also assured that Trinidad and Tobago’s sovereignty remains fully intact.
