Minister of Land and Legal Affairs, Saddam Hosein, and Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed were among several specially invited guests at an Iftar hosted at the Red House.
In a social media post, both Minister Hosein and Mayor Mohammed described the occasion as historic, noting that it was the first time an Iftar was held in that space.
The breaking of the fast was hosted by the President of the Senate, Wade Mark, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Jagdeo Singh.
Minister Hosein described the event as “a moment that beautifully brought faith, fellowship, and community into the heart of our nation’s Parliament.”
He added that as the sun set, it symbolised the breaking down of barriers and highlighted the power of togetherness during the sacred month of Ramadan.
