Crown Point Police have released the 32-year-old suspect involved in a fatal jet ski incident that claimed the life of seven-year-old Angelica Jogie at Pigeon Point Heritage Park.

After spending seven days in custody, Senior Superintendent of the Tobago Division Rodhill Kirk said the suspect could not be held any longer unless charges were laid. However, he clarified that this does not mean the suspect has been exonerated. He explained that investigators are exercising due diligence to ensure justice for the child and remains confident that a file with sufficient evidence will be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions by the end of the week.

Angelica was bathing with relatives at Pigeon Point on April 8th when a jet ski ploughed into the group, injuring several people. She sustained multiple traumatic injuries and, despite medical intervention, later died at the Scarborough General Hospital.

She was laid to rest on Saturday.

Since the incident, jet skis have been banned from Pigeon Point and the Buccoo Reef Marine Park, amid public calls for stricter regulations governing their use.
