Chairman of the Tobago Division of Industry and Commerce, Curtis Williams, has assured that the Chamber stands ready to support the incumbent Tobago People’s Party administration.

He adds that the business community views the TPP’s sweeping victory as an opportunity to advance Tobago’s agenda, with clarity, stability and purpose.

Mr. Williams noted, however, that without formal parliamentary opposition, the Division sees the need to adopt a particular role.

« In this regard, you know, the Tobago Division will continue to play its role as a responsible stakeholder, advocating for transparency, accountability and strong checks and balance. »

On sustainable economic growth for Tobago, Chairman Williams said that would be facilitated in part by the delivery of the TPP’s Blueprint Manifesto. He added that for the manifesto’s objectives to be achieved, Tobagonians must take advantage of the opportunities available, while the THA must play an enabling role in facilitating them.

« So, we will do all we have to do on our side, get our members all prepared, ready for all the contracts and all the bids that have to be placed forward to us. So, we’re working on that, and in that same breath, we want the THA now to enhance the enabling environment so that we now could really take advantage of the opportunities. »
