« We have to fix it. We need all your support. »

Incumbent Ian Pollard has officially launched his campaign to retain the Mason Hall / Moriah seat for the Tobago People’s Party (TPP), delivering a speech packed with major announcements and a call for self-reliance under the banner of « Tobago is We ».

🎁 Major Christmas Distribution Announced In a significant revelation, Pollard announced that on December 22nd, the TPP administration will distribute 250 housing units across Riseland and Adventure, along with 50 parcels of land at the new Adelphi Estate development.

« That’ll be 300 families will be happy for Christmas, » Pollard declared, urging residents from « deep north » areas like Castara and Palatuvier to apply.

🏠 Affordable Housing Revolution Addressing the high cost of construction, Pollard outlined plans to introduce alternative building materials to offer homes for under $400,000, drastically lower than the current market rates of over $650,000. He emphasized that the administration is looking for the « cheapest way out » for Tobagonians without compromising safety against earthquakes and hurricanes.

🚜 « Turning Water into Wine » on Roads Pollard praised his colleague, Secretary Trevor James, for managing road repairs with a budget of only $40 million when salary commitments alone stood at $42.5 million. Despite these constraints, which he blamed on the « wicked PNM regime, » Pollard confirmed that Belmont Branch Road, Swamp Road, and L’Ecot Road are slated for immediate repairs.

🔥 Fire Station for the North Highlighting the tragic loss of 24 homes to fire on the Northside over the last decade, Pollard renewed his commitment to establishing a fire substation, ambulance, and fire unit for the area to improve emergency response times.

🏗️ Adelphi South & Community Growth The Secretary revealed he has quietly worked to acquire 144 acres of land at Adelphi South—valued at $30.5 million—to facilitate village expansion, agriculture, and tourism. He also detailed ambitious plans for the district, including moving the community center to the football field, constructing a swimming pool, and developing an international cricket ground.

💪 A Call for Self-Reliance Reinforcing the campaign theme, Pollard urged residents to take ownership of their communities. « The drain is clog and you waiting on the government work and you have a shovel in your house, » he challenged, calling on Tobagonians to return to their traditional values of helping one another.
