TOBAGO TOURISM TAKES CENTER STAGE IN HIGH LEVEL MEETING

In a move to boost Tobago’s tourism sector, Tourism Secretary Tashia Burris held a high-level courtesy call with Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism, Satyakama Maharaj.
The meeting was held on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, to explore strategic opportunities for advancing tourism on the island. Minister Maharaj assembled a dedicated team to accompany him, including Parliamentary Secretary and Member of Parliamentary Secretary and Member of Parliament for Chaguanas West, Dr. Colin Neil Gosine; his Personal Advisor, Keran Manohar; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag), Ms. Ava Mahabir-Dass; Director of Investments and Head of Global TT, Mr. Irfan Hosein; and Chief Executive Officer (Ag) of Tourism Trinidad Limited, Mr. Ian Downes. The Minister emphasized that the team was curated to ensure Tobago’s specific needs would be heard and addressed. 27
The discussion focused on several key areas aimed at transforming Tobago’s tourism product. Topics included increasing domestic and international airlift, the Land License, and revised incentives for the sector. The officials also discussed restarting the Standing Committee on Tourism. The Hon. The minister welcomed the proposals and pledged his full commitment to the initiatives,promising to visit Tobago personally to support their implementation. The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming a shared vision to elevate Tobago’s tourism sector, promising a new era of growth and opportunity.
