The Carifta Games have always been a proving ground for emerging track and field talent across the Caribbean. For many young athletes, it represents their first exposure to large-scale regional competition and an opportunity to announce their arrival on the international stage.
Heading into this year’s championships in Grenada, the Trinidad and Tobago team, are prime ready to make their mark. At the 2025 edition, the national team produced an impressive 25-medal haul, and its Head Coach, Michelle Alleyne-Pennie, said expectations are once again high.
Alleyne-Pennie said special attention has been placed on preparing the relay teams.
With last year’s games hosted at home, the Head Coach was asked about the adjustment to competing away from home soil, particularly for newcomers to the team.
Alleyne-Pennie also commended the work of local club coaches, noting that their preparation has played a key role in shaping the readiness of the national squad heading into the Games.
